Cleanouts and cleaning

Move-Out Cleaning for Empty Homes and Rentals

Empty houses and rentals cleaned top to bottom, with small repairs and touch-ups handled in the same visit if you need them.

Moving is stressful enough without spending your last day in the old place scrubbing the oven. Whether you're a renter trying to get your deposit back, a landlord turning a unit over, or a seller getting ready for closing, our move-out cleaning gets the empty house ready for whoever's next.

What a move-out clean covers

Kitchen - Inside and outside of cabinets and drawers - Inside the oven, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher - Stovetop, range hood and backsplash - Countertops and sink

Bathrooms - Tub, shower, toilet and sink scrubbed - Mirrors and fixtures cleaned - Cabinets wiped inside and out - Floors cleaned, including behind the toilet

Throughout the house - Baseboards, door frames and doors wiped down - Light switches and outlet covers cleaned - Ceiling fans and light fixtures dusted - Window sills and tracks cleaned - Inside closets - Floors vacuumed and mopped

Cleaning plus repairs in one visit

This is where we're different from a regular cleaning service. Since we're also handymen, we can handle the small things that often come out of a deposit or show up on a walkthrough:

  • Patching nail holes and small drywall dings
  • Touching up or repainting walls
  • Replacing burned-out bulbs and broken outlet covers
  • Fixing loose cabinet doors and towel bars
  • Re-caulking tubs and sinks
  • Replacing torn window screens

Our general home repair page has the full list of small fixes we take on.

Things to know before we come

  • The house should be empty, or close to it. If there's stuff left behind, we can do a cleanout and haul-off first.
  • Utilities should be on. We need water and power to clean well.
  • Let us know about pets. Pet hair and odors take extra time, so we'll factor that into the estimate.
  • Plan around the final walkthrough. If a landlord or buyer is checking the house on a set day, tell us so we can schedule the clean a day or two before.
  • Take your own photos afterward. Renters especially should photograph each room once it's clean, as a record of how the place was left.

Pine pollen season

If you're moving in spring, you'll notice the yellow film on everything. Pine pollen gets in through doors and windows and coats sills, floors and fans. We wipe it down so the next people don't walk into a yellow house.

Use a checklist

Our move-out checklist covers what to do in the weeks before you leave, from forwarding mail to taking photos for your deposit.

Common questions

Do you clean while furniture is still in the house?

Move-out cleaning works best once the house is empty, so we can reach floors, baseboards and inside closets. If things are left behind, we can haul them off first.

Can you patch nail holes and touch up paint too?

Yes. That's one of the big advantages of hiring a handyman business for move-out cleaning. Small repairs and touch-ups can be done in the same visit.

Do you clean inside the oven and fridge?

Yes, inside the oven, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher are all part of a move-out clean.

Do you do move-in cleaning too?

Yes. Many people like a fresh clean before they unpack in a new place. It's the same top-to-bottom process.
