Closet Shelving Installation That Stays on the Wall
Closet shelves, rods, pantry and garage shelving installed level, anchored into studs, and laid out for how you use the space.
Most closets come with one rod and one shelf, and that's it. That leaves a lot of wasted space up high and down low. Closet shelving installation, whether that's extra shelves, a second rod or a simple storage system, can make a small closet hold twice what it does now.
What we install
- Wood or laminate shelves in bedroom and hall closets
- Wire shelving and closet rods
- Store-bought closet systems and kits
- Double-hang rods for shirts and pants
- Pantry shelves
- Laundry room shelves and rods for hanging clothes to dry
- Garage shelving and wall-mounted storage
- Replacing sagging or broken shelves and rods
Why closet shelves fail
The most common call we get on closets is shelving that's pulling out of the wall. That happens when:
- Clips or brackets were screwed only into drywall with light plastic anchors
- Long shelves have no support in the middle, so they sag
- Rods are too long without a center bracket and bend over time
- Moisture in a closet against an outside wall weakens particleboard
We fix this by anchoring into studs wherever possible, using heavy-duty anchors where a stud isn't there, and adding center supports on longer runs.
Planning a better closet
A few simple ideas that make a big difference:
- Double-hang one side: a rod up high and one about halfway down for shirts and folded pants.
- Long-hang section for dresses and coats, kept narrow.
- Shelves above the rod go all the way to the ceiling for out-of-season storage.
- Shoe shelves low on the wall instead of a pile on the floor.
- Keep the most-used items between your waist and shoulder height.
Not sure how to lay it out? Send us measurements and a photo and we'll talk through what fits.
Easier reach for everyone
Lowering closet rods and shelves is one of the simplest changes for kids, for anyone who has trouble reaching, and for folks planning to stay in their homes as they get older. Our guide on small aging-in-place upgrades has more ideas along those lines.
Garages and pantries
Garages fill up fast. Sturdy wall shelving gets bins off the floor and gives you room for the car again. Pantry shelves at the right spacing can fit cans, boxes and small appliances without the stacking. If you're bringing home new shelving units or storage furniture in a box, we can also handle the furniture assembly part.

Common questions
Can you install a closet system I bought?
Yes. We install wire and laminate closet kits from home stores, as well as simple built-from-scratch wood shelves.
Why do my wire shelves keep pulling out of the wall?
Usually the clips were installed only in drywall with light anchors, and the weight of clothes pulled them loose. We anchor into studs where we can and use stronger anchors where we can't.
Can you lower a closet rod so it's easier to reach?
Yes. Lowering rods and shelves, or adding a second lower rod, is a simple change that makes closets easier for kids, shorter adults and anyone who has trouble reaching.
Do you do garage and pantry shelving too?
Yes. Garage, laundry room and pantry shelving all work the same way and are a common add-on.
